S3DGA is born
The S-3D Gaming Alliance is born, has a website (www.s3dga.com) and has its first meeting on 17 SEP 2009 at the Hilton in Universal City, CA, USA.
da Vinci Resolve R-360 3D
da Vinci Systems introduced the Resolve R-360-3D in August ans showcases it at IBC. R-360-3D is a next-generation stereoscopic color grading system that provides a groundbreaking price-performance solution for the growing 3D post-production market. Powered by the NVIDIA CUDA G.P.U., the Resolve R-360-3D system grades at 30fps with 2K playback . Offered at 30 percent below the cost of previous stereoscopic grading systems, the R-360-3D's speed, power, and affordability easily surpasses any 3D color grading system in its class.

3D Stereo MEDIA to be held in Liège, Belgium, on 1-3 Dec 2009
3D Stereo MEDIA is the short name for the “International 3D Stereo Film and Technology Festival.” The event will feature presentations (with panel discussions), scientific and technical posters, a 3D film festival, an exhibition, and 3D training sessions.
Black Magic Design acquires Da Vinci
Blackmagic Design today announced the purchase of all assets of DaVinci Systems LLC. This purchase means Blackmagic Design will now offer DaVinci Resolve DI color correction systems and DaVinci Revival film restoration products for sale worldwide. DaVinci Resolve works with stereoscopic 3D and 4K. Read the Reuters announcement here.
Low cost Viewsonic projector
Viewsonic’s PJD6381 ultrashort-throw 3D projector features 1024x768 XGA resolution at 120 Hz, 2500 ANSI lumens, and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. The projector is compatible with the two leading stereoscopic 3D technologies from Texas Instruments (DLP Link) and NVIDIA 3D-Vision. The short throw ratio reduces shadowing effects. Street expected price around 1,200 USD.

Fraunhofer 3D camera assist tool
According to a Fraunhofer press release, FHG-HHI is presenting at IBC in Amsterdam a stereoscopic analyzer called STAN.This hardware-software combination supports camera operators and production teams in the shooting and processing of 3D film material.

Two of the labs doing advanced research on tomorrow's must-have tech belong to the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Germany and France's media giant Thomson, two members of the European Research consortium EDCINE.
