3D cinema as low as 3$ is possible !

Regency's Valley Plaza in the North Hollywood area offers 2D movies for $3 ($1.50 on Tuesdays), all shows all times and 3D movies for 5$. All theatres are film only, not digital but they converted one mid-size theatre (220 seats) to the Technicolor 3D system (35 mm film based projection in over/under format) That makes 3D price $5; $3.50 on Tuesdays. Limited selection for 3D film prints. They played Captain America for six weeks and are now playing Three Musketeers.

Hastings Museum of Natural and Cultural History (Nebraska, USA) selected the new RealD XLW 3D technology for its 70 feet 3D screen theater.

Premiering with National Geographic’s “Flying Monsters 3D” and nWave Picture’s “African Adventure 3D,” the state-of-the-art renovated theater within the cultural institution features stadium seating, a 70-foot (23 meters) wide screen and a NEC NC3240 4K digital cinema projector.

An extension of RealD’s award-winning XL Cinema System, the XLW is specifically designed for premium large screen venues with stadium seating and 1:1 width/throw ratio. The Hastings Museum is also being equipped with RealD LIVE, enabling the venue to show live 3D event broadcasts from around the world on the big screen.

A new 3D theatre opens in Lomme, France. Kinepolis has now 10% od its theatres fitted with 3D equipment.
