Resonance Audio Will Provide Better Spatial Sound In 3D VR And AR
Google is launching Resonance Audio, a new SDK that will integrate spatialized audio in your 3D AR or VR production. The SDK is comprised of “highly optimized digital signal processing algorithms based on higher order Ambisonics to spatialize hundreds of simultaneous 3D sound sources”.
The SDK works with iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux and is already integrated with engines like Unity and Unreal. This cross-platform support will mean developers won’t have to pay much concern to translating audio across the wide variety of headsets out there.
