Jerusalem 3D will be released in 2013
After a year of research and preparation, the giant screen film IMAX JERUSALEM 3D advanced into production with an unprecedented aerial shoot throughout Israel and the West Bank. Scheduled for worldwide release in 2013, the film will take audiences on a spectacular tour of the Holy Land and the city once believed to lie at the centre of the world.
The Arcane/Cosmic Pictures production JERUSALEM seeks to increase public understanding and appreciation for Jerusalem's historical, spiritual, cultural and artistic uniqueness, as well as highlighting some of the intersections between Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Jerusalme Shooting Video
The crew had the rare opportunity to film inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam and the largest mosque in Jerusalem. Muslims believe that the Prophet Muhammad was transported from Mecca to Jerusalem on a magical horse during his Night Journey and that he led prayers towards this site before Muslims prayed in the direction of the Ka'aba in Mecca. To capture the energy and beauty of Jerusalem in 3D, we filmed many scenes with a steadicam. This stabilizing mount allows our camera operator, Scott Hoffman, to film extraordinary images of the old city as if he is gliding through its streets. The camera equipment weighs more than 40 kg (90 lbs).
The April 2012 shooting session in Israel is now over and postproduction is starting.
