According to James Cameron, Avatar 2 Should be Projected in No-Glasses 3D
James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment has extended their collaboration with Christie Digital for five more years, including working on high brightness, high frame rate laser projectors that will be able to feed images to a parallax-barrier 3D autostereoscopic cinema screen. The technology involvement will result in crystal clear, sharp images, and eliminating 3D glasses. It is supposed to be used for the Avatar 2 release on December 18, 2020.
“In addition to the latest in projection technologies, Christie is fully committed to sharing our ongoing research and development efforts, including product roadmaps, with our co-visionary, Lightstorm, so that its productions will repeat the awe-inspiring success of Avatar in the years to come,” said president and CEO of Christie, Jack Kline.
Flight Of Passage, The Mother Of All Theme Park Rides Just Opened
Flight of Passage is an incredible immersive ride through the world of Avatar at the new "Pandora: The World of Avatar" theme park by Disney.
What is Flight Of Passage?
* It’s a 3D motion simulator ride that lets visitors link to a Na’vi avatar, straight from the core conceit of the film, and take an aerial tour on one of the planet’s wild Banshees.
Why is it awesome?
* The attraction’s use of the avatar mind-projection premise and its 3D stereoscopic visuals are a direct link to James Cameron’s 2009 film; it’s as if you’re actually experiencing a scene from the movie itself.
The Next Avatar Release Dates
The four next sequels of Avatar will be released in 3D stereoscopic format - and most probably in high frame rate. The release dates here under were given by Jim Cameron himself on its facebook page. After the good news, the bad news: we will have to wait three and a half year for the first one... But there is a good reason behind the delays: they are shooting the four movies at the same time.
Avatar 2 Delayed
Avatar 2 will not be ready to meet the Christmas 2017 release that was expected by most. Though the release date was never officially claimed by 20th Century Fox, Cameron himself said they weretargeting the holiday release window just last month. Our next best guess is July 2018....
Cameron said that meeting that date wasn’t as important as “the fact that when we get all three films done, we drop them a year apart.”
