According to James Cameron, Avatar 2 Should be Projected in No-Glasses 3D
Posted in Avatar
James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment has extended their collaboration with Christie Digital for five more years, including working on high brightness, high frame rate laser projectors that will be able to feed images to a parallax-barrier 3D autostereoscopic cinema screen. The technology involvement will result in crystal clear, sharp images, and eliminating 3D glasses. It is supposed to be used for the Avatar 2 release on December 18, 2020.
“In addition to the latest in projection technologies, Christie is fully committed to sharing our ongoing research and development efforts, including product roadmaps, with our co-visionary, Lightstorm, so that its productions will repeat the awe-inspiring success of Avatar in the years to come,” said president and CEO of Christie, Jack Kline.

Cameron said that meeting that date wasn’t as important as “the fact that when we get all three films done, we drop them a year apart.”
