Life of Pi 3D Previews in Theaters Right Now!

The 3D film adaptation of the bestselling book Life of Pi by Oscar-winning director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain) will be previewed in cinemas in stereoscopic 3D only. Uncut 3D footage from the film will play on 3D screens in front of Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Tim Burton's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and the animated sequel Ice Age: Continental Drift.

Finding Nemo 3D Blu-ray Announced

Disney-Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” has been converted to breathtaking Digital 3D. The must-“sea,” Oscar-winning underwater adventure  will appear again in theaters this fall -on September 14, 2012- after conversion to stereoscopic 3D. And now, Disney-Pixar ensures that the movie will be available in Blu-ray 3D format from December 4, 2012.


Free 3D Stereoscopic calculator for iPhone

RittaiCalc3D is a free 3D stereoscopic calculator for iPhone/iPod developed by Junji Ikeda (Japan).

With RittaiCalc3D, you will be able to calculate a number of basic 3D stereoscopic photography parameters, such as the sterebase a.k.a. IoD or interocular distance)according to the 
focal length of your lens and of the near and far planes of your scene. The parallax in % and in screen inches are calculated according to your chosen screen size.

NBC 3D Coverage of 2012 Olympics

The Olympics online live site will ise YouTube and Google's backbone to live tream more than 3,500 total programming hours, including the awarding of all 302 medals. 5,535 hours of coverage will be broadcast across NBC, MSNBC, and a few other channels.  

More importantly (at least for us), the coverage will include the first-ever 3D platform (242 planned hours of 3D coverage that NBC is producing in partnership with Panasonic, which will - unfortunately - air on a 24 hour tape delay).

Sony World Photography 3D Awards Competition

The Sony World Photography Awards are all about being at the forefront of photography, embracing new trends in and exploring the photographic possibilities of advancing technology.

As the media world is currently entering a 3D frenzy, we are excited to be a part of it by launching our first global 3D competition!

3D photographs and videos can give a whole new look to that perfect moment, adding astonishing levels of depth, clarity and realism. We are looking for entries that use true 3D technology, as offered by modern cameras such as Sony's latest Cyber-shot compact cameras, Alpha (α) system cameras and Handycam® camcorders. Anyone can enter this dynamic competition and be a part of this image revolution.

Awards

All winners, including category winners, will receive the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony. All winners, plus many shortlisted photographers, will receive an exhibition of their work at London’s spectacular Somerset House from April – May 2013. The exhibition is part of World Photo London, WPO’s month-long celebration of photography and moving image, which returns to Somerset House for the third consecutive year. The WPO will also feature the winning work across its website, through international exhibitions and inside the annual Sony World Photography Awards hardcover book.

Accepted formats are .MPO for stills and .mp4, .mts or .m2ts for videos.

Jerusalem 3D will be released in 2013

After a year of research and preparation, the giant screen film IMAX JERUSALEM 3D advanced into production with an unprecedented aerial shoot throughout Israel and the West Bank. Scheduled for worldwide release in 2013, the film will take audiences on a spectacular tour of the Holy Land and the city once believed to lie at the centre of the world.

The Arcane/Cosmic Pictures production JERUSALEM seeks to increase public understanding and appreciation for Jerusalem's historical, spiritual, cultural and artistic uniqueness, as well as highlighting some of the intersections between Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
