Ghost of the Abyss 3D Blu-ray

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment plans an April 17, 2012  3D stereoscopic Blu-ray release of the 2003 James Cameron documentary shot on the RMS Titanic. The release of Ghosts of the Abyss is just a few days after the centennial that marks the ships sinking in the Atlantic Ocean on its maiden voyage to New York and the release of "Titanic 3D" in cinemas.

Ghosts of the Abyss

The film was originally a 3D IMAX film, and it’s already been released in DVD. The film was narrated by actor Bill Paxton and was the first 3D stereoscopic film produced by Disney. In 2001, Cameron and a group of scientists explored the Titanic using experimental Russian built submarines. The documentary was a follow up to Cameron’s 1997 Titanic, which is being converted for 3D release in April as well. The movie is on IMDB.

The 3D Blu-ray is not yet on Amazon.com, but feel free to check: it will come soon...

The story

Ghosts of the Abyss was a well shot documentary, that explored the sunken ship deck by deck. Cameron developed new technology for the film, and used extensive 3D CGI to illustrate the condition of the ship before and after the sinking.
