Oculus Rift 3D VR Headset will be Manufactured
The Oculus Rift VR Headset is the cutting edge of virtual reality for video games. It will be developed with funding from Kicktarter.
The virtual reality headset is designed specifically for video games, featuring stereoscopic 3D and a wide 110 degree field of view. Existing headset displays typically offer a 40 degree field of view, replicating a screen in front of the user. A 110 degree view gives the appearance of surrounding the user's natural field of view through two 640x800 screens. The Oculus Rift features low latency head tracking so that what appears on the display accurately mimics the motions of the head.
Doom 3 BFG Edition was the first title to commit to supporting the device with their game, and it was revealed only a few days ago that Meteor Entertainment and their upcoming free-to-play shooter, HAWKEN, also agreed to support the Oculus Rift.
