The 84" 3DTV of You Dreams is Here

on Sunday, 20 January 2013 21:20. Posted in 3D Ready TV Sets

With its 4K resolution and its massive 84" size, the LG 84LM9600 will cover a good chunk of your living room wall. Of course at 20,000$, even high-end wallpaper will be less expensive. That didn't stopped the 300 people who purchased on in Seoul, South Korea, ccording to Engadget. US Sales are estimated at around 3,000 six months after the launch in July 2012.

Four times the resolution of existing HD TV panels and CINEMA 3D technology will ensure the impressively large display provides the most immersive and comfortable viewing experience possible. 3D Depth Control allows viewers to fine-tune the "distance" between near and far objects on the screen for a custom stereoscopic 3D experience. The 3D Sound Zooming feature then analyses the on-screen objects to generate sound according to their location and movement.

95" and 110" models are expected before Christmas 2013.

See-through 3D TV from HiSense

on Friday, 11 January 2013 16:38. Posted in 3D Ready TV Sets

HiSense (China) presented a proof-of-concept transparent 3D TV at CES 2013 in Las Vegas, NV, USA. As demonstrated by the WIRED reporter here under, the thin stereoscopic 3D LCD panel lets viewers see through its Full HD image as in the CSI TV series labs.

HiSense is "testing the water" with this prototype intended to corporate buyers. The key difference between this 3D TV and a normal TV is that the backlight is disconnected from the LCD panel itself. Normally the backlight and LCD are fixed together, but to make this transparent set HiSense mounted the backlight on a wall and the screen several inches away from it in front. Watch the video here under.
