SID Display Week 3D Special Topic in Vancouver
After Boston last year, the SID Display Week is back but this time it will be in Vancouver, Canada from May 19 to 23, 2013 with a lot of talks about 3D displays (stereoscopic, holographic,...). Many topics are covered such as OLED and interactivity, but we are more interested in the 3D docus:
The 3D special topic will focus on display technologies for enabling depth perception in viewers, applications for 3D displays, 3D content generation, measurement and characterization of 3D systems, and their human factors. Win 1,000$ at the SD&A Stereoscopic Game Competition
The Stereoscopic Displays and Applications Conference (SD&A) is pleased to announce the first SD&A Stereoscopic Game Competition, to be held at the conference in February 2014. The aim is to encourage the creative use of stereoscopic depth in exciting new game designs. A panel of expert judges will review the game designs and the winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000.
3D Film Expo Returns to Hollywood in September 2013
The World 3D Film Expo will return to the Egyptian Theatre from September 6-15, 2013. The ten-day festival will pay tribute to the 60th anniversary of what many film historians regard as the “Golden Age” of stereoscopic 3D, and will include screenings of the John Wayne western HONDO, the Vincent Price horror film HOUSE OF WAX, Cole Porter’s musical KISS ME KATE, and sci-fi thriller IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE, and even later 3D films, such as 1983’s JAWS 3D. Lesser-known titles, such as THE FRENCH LINE with Jane Russell and film noir SECOND CHANCE with Robert Mitchum, will also be included.
