Formula Ona Live Events Coming in 3D in UK

Sky Sports (UK) is set to broadcast parts of the final pre-season Formula One test in 3D in what it claims will be a "world first".

All four days of the test will be shown on its regular SKY TV channel, with 3D broadcasts set to start after 14.00 each day. The test runs from February 28, 2013 to March 3, 2013  and will be the last chance for the teams to put mileage on their new Formula One cars ahead of the season-opener grand prix in Melbourne.

Watch Sky 3D from February 28, 2013 to March 3, 2013 at 14:00 (GMT)

Sky says the broadcast is a "one-off 3D coverage" and didn't promiseit could be extended to a full practice, qualifying or race session in the 2013 season.   But as Sky prides itself on being at the forefront of stereoscopic 3D sports production, let's hope a bit...

Martin Brundle Quote to ESPN-F1

"This is a special moment for Formula One fans and exactly the kind of innovation and access that Sky Sports F1 promised," Sky Sport's commentator Martin Brundle said. "3D will show us the real challenges of the race track with added depth and perspective. It will be a new, immersive experience for viewers and I can't wait to see what F1 action in 3D will reveal.

F1 is now the 14th sport SKY has broadcast in 3D.
