A picture from Mars in (very) High Resolution 3D
The Mars Science Laboratory just released the first hi-res pictures of Mars taken by the stereoscopic 3D cameras on board of Curiosity.
This 3-D image from NASA's Curiosity was taken from the rover's Bradbury Landing site inside Gale Crater, Mars, using the left and right eyes of its Navigation camera. The picture is in black and white, but required the red/blue glasses to be appreciated in stereoscopic 3D.

As the media world is currently entering a 3D frenzy, we are excited to be a part of it by launching our first global 3D competition!
3D photographs and videos can give a whole new look to that perfect moment, adding astonishing levels of depth, clarity and realism. We are looking for entries that use true 3D technology, as offered by modern cameras such as Sony's latest Cyber-shot compact cameras, Alpha (α) system cameras and Handycam® camcorders. Anyone can enter this dynamic competition and be a part of this image revolution.
All winners, including category winners, will receive the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony. All winners, plus many shortlisted photographers, will receive an exhibition of their work at London’s spectacular Somerset House from April – May 2013.
