Amazing Spiderman 2 Coming in May 2014

The sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man is becoming reality as Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of production for the studio, announced that director Marc Webb and star Andrew Garfield are both returning and Emma Stone is in talks to reprise her role from The Amazing Spider-Man as Gwen Stacy.

The Amazing Spider-Man #2 will begin production in early 2013 and is set for release in stereoscopic 3D on April 17, 2012 in Germany and May 2, 2014 in the USA.

What we know

The Amazing Spider-Man #2 is been scripted by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci ( the men behind Star Trek and the previous two Transformers movies), based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt.

Belgrad said: "We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker. We can't wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide." 

James Cameron influence on Marc Webb: Marc Webb had several early conversations with James Cameron about shooting in 3D stereo before he began tackling The Amazing Spider-Man. Webb, in a conversation with Collider, admitted that he had himself been “skeptical” before meeting with Cameron, who he says gave him “a lot of confidence in the idea".
