Sony digital binoculars with 3D recording mode
Sony just announced the launch of the DEV-3 (10x) and DEV-5 (20X) digital binoculars which double as a high-definition 3D video cameras. GPS for geotagging and a battery good for 3 hours of full HD recording are included.
Zoom is limited to 5.4X in recording mode.
The DEV-3 and DEV-5 digital binoculars use Sony's Exor R CMOS sensors and BIONZ image processors, locked behind a matched pair of precision G Lens optics. Each eye cup features an independent electronic viewfinder offering clear stereoscopic images for a natural view. Sony has included the same active Optical SteadyShot technology that is found in its Handycam and Cyber-shot cameras.
In recording mode, the digital binoculars can capture exactly what's being seen through the viewfinders in either 2D 1920x1080 AVCHD, or as 3D footage for playback on compatible TVs via the included HDMI port. Read Photographybay for more info.
Both models are due to launch in the US in November, priced at $1,400 and $2,000 respectively.
