As a recent 3DRadar paper said : "Are glasses killing 3D TV?" Research at Strategy Analytics has found that 3DTV owners (in the UK at least)  typically own just two pairs of glasses - 13 per cent don't own any - and see the high cost as a major barrier to buying more. Panasonic, Samsung and Sony are teaming to develop a new standard for active 3D glasses as part of the 'Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative.'  The three TV makers as well as the glasses manufacturer XpanD are hoping that a new standard will appeal to consumers expressing concern about buying 3D goggles for one set that may not be compatible with other sets.

Of course, autostereoscopic TV that is cheap and good enough for watching Blu-ray is still a distant future but -one day- it will be the ultimate solution...
