Bright 3D expected from Barco and IMAX

on Friday, 10 February 2012 19:22. Posted in Exhibition, glasses, servers, and projectors

Barco and IMAX announced this week a seven years cooperation agreement to work on enhanced light sources for their projectors. and the big winner is ... 3D ! One of the most known problems of stereoscopic 3D is the overall brigthness (or more precisely the lack of it).

Barco and IMAX will co-develop leading-edge laser technology – benefiting from Barco's unique laser innovations and IMAX's licensed Kodak IP. The companies will work together exclusively to manage the transition from Xenon-based to high-performance, laser-based projectors, which are expected to be deployed in 2013.

3D? 240 fps? 30,000 lumens? Ask DepthQ!

on Wednesday, 23 November 2011 16:06. Posted in Exhibition, glasses, servers, and projectors

Newly patented technology makes DepthQ the world’s fastest polarization switch for 3D digital cinema. Pu the dice in front of a 3D cinema projector lens, and, with a 50 microsecond switching time between the eyes, DepthQ easily ensures bright, low- crosstalk operation - even at the upcoming 3D high frame rates of 192 Frames per second (FPS), 240 FPS...and beyond.

When combined with a silver screen, the DepthQ Polarization Modulator allows your digital cinema projector to display stunning stereoscopic 3D films, viewable using inexpensive passive glasses. Paired with projectors up to 30K Lumens, DepthQ provides a spectacular 3D experience for screens up to 17.7m (58ft).

As its names implies, the modulator modulates the polarity of light passing through it, in perfect synch with the double or triple-flash of left and right eye images from digital cinema projectors. To date, the DepthQ Polarization Modulator has been successfully reviewed by executives from six major Hollywood studios and is listed on the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Approved Equipment List.

LG fashion 3D passive glasses

on Tuesday, 27 December 2011 13:17. Posted in Exhibition, glasses, servers, and projectors

LG Electronics (Seoul, South Korea) announces its newest collection of 3D glasses that includes a pair designed by eyewear designer Alain Mikli. The new spectacles will be introduced in the first quarter of 2012.

The new 3D glasses -the F310, the clip-on F320 and the Alain Mikli F360- are lighter and more comfortable to wear while upgraded design features such as curved lenses and clean frame structure have transitioned 3D glasses from burdensome requirements to stylish fashion accessories. The F310 are the lightest of the lot at 13.5 gr only!

Developed in collaboration with Alain Mikli, the F360's half-rim frame design is sportier than the usual 3D glasses and only weighs 16 grams. The F360 lenses are curved and cover most of the wearer's face, deepening the immersive CINEMA 3D experience. The stylish F360, as well as all 3D glasses from LG, can be worn on front of LG passive 3D TV sets and in theaters showing 3D movies since both CINEMA 3D and theaters utilize the same FPR and RealD technologies.
